Rie Rasmussen (born February 14, 1978) is a Danish fashion model, actress, film director, writer and photographer.
Rasmussen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. She was discovered at the age of fifteen while vacationing in New York.
Rasmussen got her big break in the film industry when she acted in Brian De Palma's erotic thriller Femme Fatale which starred her friend, former supermodel Rebecca Romijn, who got her the role. She also appears in Luc Besson's Angel-A. A former Victoria's Secret model, she directed two short films, one of which, Thinning the Herd, was selected to more than 20 film festivals around the world including the Cannes Film Festival.
She is currently (January 2008) directing her first feature film, an as-yet-untitled drama about her adopted Vietnamese sister struggling to be accepted in Denmark.
She was launched onto the modeling scene at the Victoria's Secret Lingerie Fashion Show in 2001. She was also the face of Gucci under Tom Ford. On the catwalk, she likes to portray a character, saying it is very much like acting.
